When we started our company, it was all men. Since then 5 out of 7 hires have been women. The women we’ve been hiring are extremely ambitious, hard working and very creative, which makes me worried for the men out there. Men, listen very hard, we have to stop thinking that we are only in competition with 1/2 the population (other men) for the available jobs out there. The game has changed! From what I’ve been seeing, women are kicking our asses right now and it’s going to get worse, unless you start stepping up your game… because I know the women have already done so.

Women are simply seeing the opportunities that men have become complacent about, and are actively pursuing these open doors, while the men complain that they deserve more than the women, and that women don't 'know their place' anymore.

It is not a war of genders but rather an opportunity being served to deserving women. Gone are the days of men supremacy. Equality in all aspects should prevail because we are the same: human. Got to have love in the air, soon.

Men need not be worried about women passing them in the workplace, but should let it motivate them, and not let it create animosity over a sense of entitlement they have become accustomed to over the past decades/centuries.

Women are simply seeing the opportunities that men have become complacent about, and are actively pursuing these open doors, while the men complain that they deserve more than the women, and that women don't 'know their place' anymore.

That said, I still believe that men should ultimately be higher in power as far as leadership/authority. Not so that they can lord it over the women in tyranny, but rather to foster encouraging relationships and empower women.

With more powerful, driven and motivated women out there to light fires under the complacent men's butts, we will have more motivated men because the challenge we women have now created, thus creating a doubly efficient work force of men and women working side by side to better our world exponentially faster than before....if only we could beat the pride and arrogance that keeps this partnership from actually happening in the workplace....

...Just a female entrepreneur's two cents ;)

Women are thought to be unable to do difficult and heavy jobs. But that was before. In some companies, women are found to be doing jobs which are supposed to be men's. Women now are viewed as hard working, serious in every work and they never stop improving themselves. This doesn't mean to be demoralizing men but a call to treat women equally as men.

That is certainly the case in real estate. In fact for men, the women can often be harder to deal with than other the men. I believe this is because some of the woman feel that they have something to prove. In any case, I love working side by side with women and I am happy that there are successful and hardworking woman in the workplace.

As a hobbyist in sociology, I've looked at changing gender roles and the messages we send. For the past 30 years we've demoralized boys and told girls they can do anything if they just work harder. "Men are evil and repressive ... or stupid, lazy and incompetent" and "women are fabulous and can accomplish anything." Until recently you could even see this culturally ingrained in our advertising: women always came out looking brilliant in the end and the man always came out looking like a buffoon. Recent research showing that this WAS affecting men negatively (and their purchasing) made advertisers start changing their messages, but it's too little, too late.

30 years of driving these messages into our male population got us here. If we had been rational and thoughtful we would have merely worked to help women into equal social and economic positions. Instead, we turned it around and pushed men down to get women up. The result is also in college admissions: women outnumber men in college somewhere around 56% to 44%. The recession and unemployment has also hit men much harder than women. Men are unemployed to the tune of around 11.5% while women are unemployed at around an 8.3% rate. Economists are also saying that - for the first time in history - women will outnumber men in the workforce by the beginning of 2010.

I think men are utterly demoralized. Society kicked them around for 30 years and now the economy is kicking them around too.
