That may be an over-simplification of what advertising is but your point is clearer when you've defined advertising in your own words. Keep up the good work with Tatango.
Oh right, branding, customer service and communication is not a part of advertising...
I'm sure you'll get some traction with the Social Media Consultants, Strategists and Curators out there. But the old rules still apply. Only the channel for the distribution of the message has changed.
I'll be busy shaking off your rant for the next few minutes. But keep it coming. Social media is about promotion and it's not much of a step to say it's about advertising.
In my mind, advertising is a one way communication. TV ads, radio ads, Google adwords are all one way... buy this, click here etc. Social media outlets, twitter, facebook etc. are all about interacting and communicating, which in turn has the same results as advertising, but takes a much different approach.
You know that while in school I work at a restaurant part time. This is something I've been wanting to try out to see the effect it can have on our restaurant and business. The town I am in is growing like crazy. We have a new restaurant opening soon and more on the way. People will start branching out and trying new things. I want to make sure they stay loyal to us though and continue to do business with us.
Thanks for the motivation to get my idea rolling even more!
