My Favorite Twitter Tools

As you may have noticed I’m on Twitter a lot! I’ve found that to really utilize Twitter to its full potential, I use a bunch of different applications. I thought it would be helpful to list some of the ones I use religiously on a day to day basis. Hopefully you find these useful and be sure to tell me your favorites in the comments.

TweetBeep: If you own a company, you have to be on TweetBeep! This app allows you to keep track of conversations that mention you, your products, your company, or anything that may pertain to your industry.

TweetLater: Get a lot of followers? Check out this app as it allows you to automatically follow the people that follow you. It also allows you to send a nice little thank you when someone follows you.

TwitterFon: This iPhone application I couldn’t live without! This Twitter app is so simple, even a non-tech person like me can use it. It has separate tabs for the timeline of all the people you follow, replies and direct messages. The beauty is in it’s simplicity, you have to check this one out.

Twhirl: Twhirl is great for when you are at your computer. You download it and run it directly on your desktop (looks pretty cool). When you get a message (reply or DM) a little box on your desktop pops up to alert you. The best thing for me is that in coverts really long URL’s into tinyurl’s automatically when you are posting something.

Sweet. I'm installing TwitterFon now. I've always used Twitterific. I just discovered Tweetie today. It's pretty nice app to for the iPhone. Very simple to use and great look and feel to it.

Of course, I had to chime in, you prolific monster.

Tweetie is new to me, but I'll give that a spin, since I already have Twitterific (crashed) and TwitterFon (pretty good) in a battle royale for a spot on my iPhone. What's one more, I ask?!

The holy grail is to be able to easily manage multiple Twitter accounts on an IPhone, which Twirl does brilliantly.

If you have enough screen space, Tweetdeck is the only way to go. Socialtoo, Mytweeple, and twollow are all also very interesting. . . but not necessarily for everyone.

I have yet to find a Twitter iPhone app that I really like.

@tatango, sometimes I tweet for clients that forget to. It may be a little disingenuous until they get the hang of it - but I think that may be a little cottage industry of ghosttweeting, here!

For clarification, Twirl is desktop-only, and Tweetie is indeed saving my tweetlife. Thanks, Luke!

Good list. I love tweetbeep it's very helpful. I also like:

- Tweet Deck: Similar to Twhirl...Tweet Deck is a desktop software that allows you to see all tweets, replies, direct messages and alerts that you have set all in one place. You can also search directly from it and shorten urls.

-Tweet Volume: Allows you to monitor how many times a key word is said on twitter. You can easily track your brand and compare it to competitors.

- Twitter Grader: Allows you to check the power and influence you have as a twitter user. It's based on your tweeting habits, as well as the number and quality of the followers you have.
